Welcome to the North Carolina Health Professions Data System (HPDS). The 2008 Data Book was released in October 2009. For county, region and profession data click on the Download Data link.

The HPDS has been developed at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to collect and disseminate timely and reliable data on selected licensed health professionals in North Carolina.

Descriptive data are maintained for:

certified nurse midwives

chiropractors

dental hygienists

dentists

licensed practical nurses

nurse practitioners registered with the NC Medical Board

occupational therapists

occupational therapy assistants

optometrists

pharmacists

physical therapists

physical therapist assistants

physician assistants registered with the NC Medical Board

physicians (doctors of medicine and osteopathy)

physicians in residency training

podiatrists

practicing psychologists

psychological associates

registered nurses

respiratory therapists

We provide a variety of products and services, many of which are described in and available through this web site, but if you prefer to speak with our staff they are happy to answer any questions or assist you in any way.

If you need data for previous years and are not able to find them on this site, you can still access the old version of the NCHPDS web site here. Once all prior data have been transferred to the new site, the old site will no longer be accessible.
